Makes 12 scones

Ingredients:

•2 1/2 cups flour
•1/4 cup rolled oats
•1 tsp. baking soda
•1 tsp. cream of tartar
•2 tbsp sugar
•1/2 tsp. salt
•1/4 cup cold butter or margarine
•1/2 cup raisins
•1 cup buttermilk

Directions:Preheat oven to 400 °F. Mix ingredients together in large bowl. Cut in butter or margarine with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add raisins and mix slightly. Pour in milk and mix until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface; pat into a 3/4" thickness. Using a 2" glass or biscuit cutter dipped in flour, cut dough into circles. Or for triangle shaped scones, divide dough in half. Pat each half into a circle 3/4 " thick; then cut into six wedges. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot with butter or jam.

Store leftovers in an airtight container. Makes 12 rounds or triangles.
