- Make sure your child knows his first and last name, address and phone number
- Play school - practice naming colors, shapes, number and letters of the
alphabet

snap"

Tips for Parents with Kids Returning to School
- Buy something new for your child to wear the first day, this is a
confidence booster as well as a conversation starter for children
- Help them settle into routines for bedtime and getting started in the
morning
- Establish a "communication center" where papers from school needing your
attention are placed
- Role-play making new friends
- Take time to review math concepts. Placement tests could be coming and it's
best if your child remembers how to regroup
- Use your computer to make labels with your child's name copied in different
fonts, paste these on all school supplies
- Volunteer (even one time) to let the teacher and your kids know that you
care about school
- Establish a time and place for homework
- Value education and teachers in your home by your actions and your words
