Combine this with shoe box theatre

Materials:

  • Tongue depressor for each puppet
  • Pencil
  • Pen or fine tip marker
  • Colored markers
  • Some options: paper, wiggle eyes, felt, pompoms, and yarn
  • Need with options white glue and scissors

Directions:

Lightly draw a character on tongue depressor. Keep drawing simple, you can add more details later with a pen. For character ideas, you might want to draw family members or favorite characters from books or movies. Color in your drawing with markers. Use pen or fine tip marker to add small details such as buttons, eyes or other facial features. For a more creative effect you can use scraps of felt or paper to add body parts such as wings, tail ears, or yarn for hair. You can use wiggle eyes, sequins, pompoms; and buttons can be glued on for eyes. Let glue dry completely before playing with puppet.
