When I
was a kid my sister and I would love to play in the basement
and have our little adventures. The best adventures come when
you can add to the surroundings. My children now love it just
as much as we did 25 years ago.
How to
make an easy fort:
Find some
old blankets, or sleeping bags or bed sheets. Spread them out
so they are their full size, and then use them like a tent.
Place the corners on top of furniture, shelves, pool tables
or whatever you have in a room. Place somewhat heavy objects
on the corners to hold the entire blanket off of the ground.
Be careful that they are not too heavy because they could fall
off and injure your child. Place a stool or a broom handle in
the middle to give a little standing room and there you go
a simple, dark, adventurous fort. The more blankets the bigger
the fort, and if they don't like it you can always change it!
If the
opportunity presents itself, big boxes are twice as nice. You
can cut out windows, draw on the walls and then recycle it when
you are through.
To add
to the fun, put some sleeping bags in the fort along with some
plastic dishes and treats.
