I am posting this message not so much as the problems I am having but to say what a joy my step-grandaughter has brought into my life..and to say to some that may be discouraged..don't give up.

My husband had 2 children from a previous marriage. At age 12, one daughter moved in with us. To make a long story short...Our morales were very different from his ex's.. The daughter left us..moved in with her Mom and within 3 months she was pregnant. After the baby was born she moved back in with us..she didn't want to work or go to college..so my hubby told her she needed to pack. She left the baby with us. A lot happened between then and now... but the grandbaby..the love of my life..is with us now.

I have not had children of my own. She (the grandchild) is everything to me. Her other has had 2 other children since then..all different fathers... she is constantly into some sort of trouble. While I do hurt for her I also hold a lot of resentment. I can hardly stand for her to be around my grandaughter. My grandaughter holds a lot of resentment towards her mother and is well basically embarassed.

It is a stress. I love her mother but I hate waht she is doing with her life. I don't want to keep my grandchild from her but at the same time I don't want her to talk to her. The child is fine..she is 13 now..and is a very strong confident child..but I want to keep her that way.

I don't know,...guess I am just at witts end...

Any help out there?
